Borno Lawmaker Donates 2,400 Bags Of Fertilizer For Free Distribution To Boost Farming In Constituency

Member House of representatives, Hawul/Askira -Uba Federal Consistency of Borno state, Hon Dr. Haruna Mshelia in collaboration with BEASWECH International Limited have donated two trucks of 2,400 assorted bags of fertilizers which were distributed free to farmers.

Flagging off the distribution yesterday which is an annual event, the Executive Chairmen of Askira- Uba and Hawul Local Government Areas, Hon. Ahmed Ahidjo and Hon. Ibrahim Scissors who supervised the peaceful free distribution in their respective councils, commended the federal lawmaker.

They said the gesture would has gone a long way in complimenting efforts of the present administration of Governor Babagana Zulum’s 10-Point Agenda in repositioning the agricultural sector and ensure food security.

Present were, Hon Musa Ali Sakwa who is Special Adviser to the Governor on Water Resources, LGA Party Chairman and  Chairman of the Council who doubles as Chairman of the distribution Committee in Hawul said “Hon. Mshelia procured 2400 bags of assorted fertilizer in order to support the people of his Constituency, and each of the local government areas would recieve 1,200 bags.”

The Chairman also added that this is not the first time the lawmaker is donating bags of fertilizer, but is the second time, which equally coincided with his two-years in office as active and committed representative.

He used the occasion and highlighted some developmental projects executed by Hon Mshelia to include construction of Classroom blocks, Clinics, Drilling new and Rehabiliation of boreholes, Electrification Projects, Distribution of food and non food items to vulnerable groups, Establishment of NIMC Registration centres, Construction of three Roads, Award of Scholarships and  numerous other people oriented gestures among others.

He also commended the lawmaker for his support towards facilitating a Bill which had passed a second reading at the floor of the national assembly for establishment of Federal Orthopaedic Hospital in Azare the capital of Hawul LGA.

Executive chairman Askira/uba local government Hon. Ahmed Ahidjo Abdullahi during the flag-off ceremony in his council said the donation is timely, as more people are busy engaged in 2021 farming season due to relative peace in the state.

“Providing these fertilizers to our local farmers free is a way of mitigating the impact of food insecurity in the constituency.” He said.

Hon. Mada Saidu legislative assistant to Hon. Mshelia while speaking on the targeted beneficiaries said, local farmers and traditional Leaders, Party Faithfulls from each polling unit, coordinators of Dr Mshelia and leaders of ruling All Progressives Congress, APC at ward, LGA and state levels would benefit from the gesture.
