A strange vulture under the custody of Adamawa Police Command headquarters in Yola has continue to cause stir and speculations on reasons for its detention.
The vulture said to be in custody of command Criminal Investigation Unit, was alleged to be a notorious criminal arrested in Maiha local government who later transformed into a bird.
“The criminal who was arrested in Maiha transformed into a vulture while police were bring him to Yola.
“The vulture is in CID office and was tied on the leg so that it would not escape” said man coming out of the police headquarters who simply identified himself as Mustafa.
Another man that saw the vulture, Joseph Adam said what he heard about the vulture was that someone died in Maiha and the vulture was brought to the family by someone who claimed the vulture belong to the decease who gave him for save keeping.
“What led to bringing the vulture to the police is what I don’t really know,” Adam said.
When journalists visited the police headquarters, some policemen who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed the presence of the vulture in the police CID but declined to comment on why it was there.
When contacted the command spokesman, SP Othman Abubakar, simply said there was a vulture in custody, but the bird is not a human being that transformed into a vulture as being speculated.
Abubakar said the vulture has to do with a herbalists in custody who was arrested for given a woman some concoction which she took and later died.
