Vote Atiku irrespective of your party – ADC chieftain, Binani urges Adamawa residents
Former APC gubernatorial candidate in Adamawa State and now a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani, has called on all indigenes of Adamawa State, irrespective of party affiliation, to unite in support of the presidential ambition of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting of ADC in Yola on Saturday, Binani said it was imperative for the people of Adamawa to rally behind one of their own, stating that the emergence of an Adamawa-born president would have far-reaching positive impacts on the state.
“If you’re a son or daughter of Adamawa, even if you are not in ADC, you must vote for Waziri Atiku. When the presidency comes from your state, the benefits will touch you, even indirectly and in profound ways,” she said.
Binani, who described Atiku’s 2027 presidential bid as “incontestable,” urged members of the ruling APC and the opposition PDP to cast their presidential votes in favour of the former Vice President, while maintaining loyalty to their parties in other elective positions.
“If you meet a PDP member, tell him to vote Atiku. If you meet an APC member, say the same. From the governor down to the House of Assembly, vote ADC. But for the presidency, let us speak with one voice — vote Atiku,” she declared.
Reflecting on the 2023 presidential election results in Adamawa, Binani noted that Atiku polled 62 percent of the votes, while Tinubu garnered 38 percent, despite massive mobilization for the APC. She said the outcome proved Atiku’s deep-rooted popularity in the state.
“In 2023, we gave it our all for Tinubu and still got 38 percent. Atiku, without our support, got 62 percent. Imagine what will happen if we join hands this time. If he loses in 35 states, in Adamawa we will give him no less than 85 percent.
Binani who took a swipe at governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State for ditching Atiku after benefitting from his immense support in 2023 said such behavior represents the height of incivility and political treachery.
“Atiku was the strongman behind the success of PDP in 2023 in Adamawa State. He actively joined hands with those who hated me in my party to ensure victory for the governor but because he is a traitor we have seen how he paid back Atiku,” she asserted.
Despite her praise for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom she described as a “large-hearted, down-to-earth leader,” Binani said she had to leave the APC due to the injustice and marginalization she suffered at the hands of certain party stakeholders in the state.
“I left not because I hate the party, but because I could no longer endure the unjust treatment. If you’re in your house and you’re constantly looking outside, it means you’re no longer comfortable inside,” she said.
Binani clarified that her move to ADC was not driven by personal ambition but by a desire to contribute to building a just and equitable political platform. She pledged to support the growth of the ADC by promoting justice, fairness, and accountability within the party.
“My political destiny lies in God’s hands. I joined ADC not necessarily to contest elections but to stand for justice. Justice is what will make this party thrive,” she added.
