Tinubu Storms Borno, Pledges Honest, Accountable Government If Elected

The presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaji Ahmed Tinubu has pledged a honest and accountable administration that will carry all Nigerians along.

Tinubu made the pledge on Saturday in Maiduguri while addressing a campaign rally.

Tinubu said his administration would revive the economy and turn things better for  Nigerians.

He appreciated the resilience of the people of Borno who expeienced several years of insurgency and assured that his administration would bring them more  hope, happiness and joy as the recover from the crisis.

While lauding the large turn out that welcome his campaign team, Tinubu urged them to ensure they translate it into votes on election day.

Also speaking, the Vice Presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima who is from Borno, hailed the people for the massive turn out and assured that if elected they would keep the trust and love shown to them.

“I have nothing to say but to thank you for making me proud with this massive show of love.

“We will hold your trust, we will resume the prospect of oil in Lake Chad and create jobs,” Shettima said.

In his remarks, Gov. Babagana Zulum also thanked the people for the show of solidarity and urged them to translate it into votes.

Zulum who spoke on the dividends of democracy recorded in the state under APC administration at all levels, said the people needed to reciprocate with massive votes.

“If you show up to vote on election day the way you show up today, victory is ours,” Zulum said.

The party National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, and Gov. Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa also appreciated the turn out in Borno and other states in the zone which they said would ensure healthy competition to see which state deliver the highest votes.

Others who spoke at the campaign included former governors of Borno,  Maina Ma’aji, Ali Sheriff and Nana Shettima, wife of Senator Kashim Shettima and Borno First Lady, Falmata Babagana Zulum who also thanked residents for high turn out and appealed for votes.

Tinubu also visited the Shehu’s palace where he described his visit as home coming.

“I am home, I am part of this home” Tinubu said.

Introducing Tinubu earlier to Shehu, Gov. Zulum spoke on the long cordial relationship between Tinubu and the people of Borno.

“Tinubu’s relationship with the people of Borno dates back 20 years. He has on several occasions sympathized with us..

“Your Royal Highness (Shehu of Borno), our presidential flag bearer is in Borno for a campaign rally, it is however, a tradition to pay you homage and seek fatherly blessing before proceeding to the campaign rally”, Zulum said.

Highlights of the campaign rally include riding through streets of Maiduguri by the Tinubu and his team  to acknowledge cheers from crowds of supporters, recieving defectors from other parties and presentation of party flag to Zulum as the gubernatorial candidate of the party.
