Taraba Muslims council looted by hoodlums in Jalingo

As angry youths across many states of the federation were protested on the need to #EndSARS unit of the Nigerian Police, Taraba state was also not exceptional as the youth protested and registered their demands to the state government.

During the protest, while addressing the youths in their large number at the gate of Government House in Jalingo, Governor Darius Ishaku promised to look into their complaints including the removal of the curfew imposed on KEKE NAPEP operators for over one year.

In view of this, two days after the protest, some suspected hoodlums took the advantage of the #EndSARS campaign and embarked on broken warehouses where the Taraba state government stored the covid-19 palliatives stuff and started looting.

Among the individual’s warehouses that were invaded and looted valuables beside the government’s own including a private school belonging to a popular Taraba businessman, Chief Uche Obi, Hon. Jugulde’s store as well as the state chapter of Muslims Council and looted relief materials stored.

It was gathered that the hoodlums in their hundreds broken gates and doors of the Muslims and looted items including mattresses, mats, buckets, blankets, and wrappers.

The hoodlums it was further gathered that they chased away the few security guards that were present before breaking into the building.

An eyewitness revealed to our Correspondent that the hoodlums including women and children carted away the items worth millions of naira.

It was however gathered that the items stored in the council building were donated by individuals to assist victims of communal conflicts in the state.
