The house in a statement from the office of the Speaker, Aminu Iya Abbas, described the publication in “The Finder”online medium as fake news and malicious write-up by a desperado practicing journalism upside down.
“The attention of members of the Adamawa State House of Assembly has been drawn to a false and malicious publication by an online medium, The Finder, against the state lawmakers, claiming that an anonymous lawmaker told him that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri purchased refurbished SUV jeeps for members.
“The said one man show lowly rated online medium known to be praise singing toll for past administration now fighting a losing battle to impress it financier by concocting stories need to be told that Adamawa Assembly has the capacity to get it faced the law for what it is: agent of fake and inciting news, if it continues the nonsense.
“The said publication which best suits the imagination of the writer is not only baseless but a clear attempt to cause disharmony between the legislatures and the executive arm in Adamawa state.
“The fact is that, non of the members complain about the SUV purchased for them by Governor Fintiri, rather they are appreciative of the gesture which will ease their movements in performing their constitutional functions.
“The SUVs are not reward for approving N9.9 billion loan but the normal vehicle purchase for all members for the usual constitutional functions which the 7th Assembly deserved just like others before it.
“The N9.9 billion housing project for Adamawa workers approved by the lawmakers is a collaborative venture between Adamawa state government and the federal government to address housing deficit in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states which is also in line with the present administration’s 11 points agenda
“The members are united and will remain one under the able leadership of the Rt Hon Speaker Aminu Iya Abbas with the committed to provide sound legislation and quality representation for the development of the state.”
The statement reiterated that the working relationship between the legislative and the executive arms has remained cordial, and that the two arms would continue to partner in the task of taking Adamawa state to a greater height.
“The writer of the ill motivated publication and his co-sponsors are advised to withdraw the statement and tender unreserved apology to the entire members of the state assembly,” the statement demanded.
