Staff of Federal Polytechnic Mubi embark on strike action

Normal activities have been grounded at the Federal Polytechnic Mubi in Adamawa State as academic and non academic staff of the institution embarked on indefinite strike action.

The striking workers comprising members of ASUP, SSANIP and NASU accused leadership of the institution of non implementation of CONTISS 15 in full and promotion increment for staff promoted from 2017 to date.

“The polytechnic also refused to implement Polytechnic Act that said among others that there should be election into position HOD, Dean…in short we have issues that need to address in this institution.

“Even IPPIS official who came to register staff as directed by federal government had to be escorted because of the tension over unresolved issues between the staff and polytechnic management.

“We had a joint meeting of ASUP, NASU and SSANIP where all the unions resolved to embarked on indefinite strike action,” an angry staff of the institution who simply identified himself as Baba said.

Effort to get the Rector of the polytechnic, Dr Sadiq Yahaya to comment did not yield result.
