No fewer than 26,000 Adamawa State students schooling in different tertiary institutions across the country have started benefiting from the scholarship scheme of Governor Ahmadu Umar Fintiri.
The National President of Adamawa State Students, (NUADSS), Comrade Gaddafi Hussaini who disclosed this while speaking to newsmen that the union has been pushing for the payment of the scholarship for the last seven years.
He maintained that, their efforts only saw the light of the day during the present administration of Fintiri.
“Our Union had pursued this issue of scholarship for more than 7 years all to no avail, not for complications or lack of funds but because we were not prioritized until the coming of this administration led by Fintiri,” he stated.
According to him, university students received N15,000, while their counterparts in polytechnics and colleges of education got N7,500 each.
Hussaini appealed to students who are yet to receive the scholarship allowance to be patient as the state scholarship Trust Fund is working assiduously to ensure all students captured are paid.
” I would like to use this medium to thank and assure His excellency, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri that the Adamawa state students are 100% in support of his administration,” he said.
The Newshawk recalls that the scholarship scheme was revived by Fintiri after it was stopped for nearly seven years by the previous administration.
