S/court: Sen Girei felicitates with Tinubu, says judgement, victory for democracy
An Adamawa All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart, Sen. Abubakar Girei has extended deep felicitations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Sen. Kashim Shettima and the ruling party over what he called a well deserved victory.
Girei’s felicitations came in the wake of the supreme court judgment which affirmed the electoral victory of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the last presidential election.
The politician who described the court as the last hope of the common man, said the judgement is a victory for democracy adding that “the judgement has only reaffirmed the mandate which Nigerians freely gave to the Tinubu/Shettima ticket.”
“With today’s judgement which represents another watermark in our democratic annals, the legal tussle and the inherent distraction that comes with it is over.
“The courts have affirmed the mandate which Nigerians gave freely to our amiable president based on the confidence they have in him. Nigerians having vouched for the competence, integrity, vision and track record of our president unequivocally gave him the imprimatur to lead them knowing that he will steer the ship of our nation out of the troubled waters.
“This judgment has further put to rest any contention in respect of the legitimacy of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu to occupy Nigeria’s most coveted office. It is my humble belief that the president will redouble his efforts in tackling the litany of socio economic challenges straddling our fatherland,” he said.
While appreciating the gallantry of Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his counterpart of the Labour Party (LP) Peter Obi, Girei charged them to join hands with president Tinubu to bail Nigeria out of its myriads of socio economic troubles.
“I must appreciate my two brothers for their gallantry, confidence and abiding faith in democracy. The fact that they resorted to the courts to challenge the victory of Tinubu not the other way round is a testimony to their unimpeachable democratic credentials.
“As believers of democracy, I urge them to in the spirit of national interest and cohesion invest further in Nigeria’s democratic project by supporting our president to succeed.
“This will be a win win situation for democracy and our dear nation which is in dire need of our collective efforts for its survival,” Girei added.
