Rep. Ahmed Satomi representing Jere Federal Constituency of Borno has disbursed N140m to farmers in his constituency to enable them engage in agriculture.
Speaking at the ceremony in Maiduguri on Wednesday, Satomi who is a large scale farmer in the area said his happy experience in agriculture made him empower the farmers to also benefit.
Satomi said agriculture remains one of the most viable ways to help many people at the grassroots to conquer poverty.
He commended Zulum for his support and guidance, adding that the governor as a mentor has continued to guide him.
He said over 90 people received one million naira each under the program done in collaboration with Satomi Integrated Farm Ltd.
“There is also a cluster of 24 women that are given N12m while 42 others received N500,000 each to buy ruminants like goats, sheep and other value chain”, Satomi said.
Satomi said the beneficiaries who would engage in cattle fattening, agro allied and other agricultural value chain had been provided the needed training for maximum benefit.
In his remarks, Governor Babagana Zulum lauded the lawmaker for his gesture and urged beneficiaries to make proper use of the opportunity so that they can also empower others next year.
Also in their respective remarks, the Deputy National Chairman North of APC, Alhaji Ali Dalori, and the Borno APC Chairman, Alhaji Bello Ayuba, commended the lawmaker for the development.
He said his action was in line with the party manifesto of empowering the rural populace.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mallam Umar Mohammed, said they were fortunate to be selected for the support and would justify the confidence in them by making good use of the opportunity.
Highlights of the occasion include lecture on cattle fattening, documentary show on Satomi Integrated Farm and the presentation of cheques to beneficiaries.
