In the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan , a team of 10 Nigerian Christians and Muslims clerics headed to by Pastor Yohanna Buru had launched a sensitization campaign in some local markets across the 23 local market of kaduna state north-western Nigeria.
The campaign was aimed to prevailed on traders to have fear of God so as to avoid increase in prices of food commodities during the holy month of Ramadan.
While leading the delegation Pastor Yohanna Buru, says the reason behind their tour is to meet ,dialogue and also talk with various market unions and fruits sellers as well as other stake holders, “,so that we can appeal to you to either cut- down prices or not to increase the price from all the goods and services you rendered.
“In the spirit of this great and holy month you need to help so that poor and rich can be able to buy food stuff and fruits at affordable prices throughout the 30 days for breaking their Fast.
“God will surely be angry with any Marketer or seller that double the prices of his goods just be cause he want to take advantage of the holy season, such marketer will not enter paradise”
“stop taking advantage in the holy month through inflating prizes of goods and service for your personal interest, God is surely angry with any marketer that triple prizes of any commodity in the holy month,”
The Cleric also charged traders to remembered widows, physically challenged persons , orphans, and internally displaced persons IDPs .
“it was observed that in each and every year, marketers from Northern Nigeria takes the advantage of the holy month while extorting from the public, and this is not really good because God is angry with such marketers,and as such their wealth will not be blessed .
“We must team as a Christians and Muslims to kick against all forms of extortion from the marketers that will affect any Muslim during the sacred month,because we are from one God and Adams and Eve our original parents.”
While speaking, Kaduna state secretary of “Association of Tomatos sellers” ,Mallam Dalhatu Adamu Aliyu thanked the team and urged traders not to increase Kobo in the spirit of Ramadan.
Some of the markets visited by the group include Kaduna central market “checheniya,” Barnawa market, Awo market, Mando market, Tudun wada, Badarawa and Unguwan Dosa market.
