The Qatar Foundation is to construct 10 Mosques and 50 bores in Adamawa State.
The Director of the Foundation, Hamid Faiz, made this known Wednesday in Pariya village of Fufore LGA of Adamawa.
Faiz said the foundation which has been operating in Nigeria for many years was making its first entrance to Adamawa this year in collaboration with the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, through her Future Assured programme in reaching out to the needy.
Speaking on behalf of Future Assured, Dr Mohammed Sani, said Aisha Buhari was always ready to partner with like minds in reaching out to the poor, particularly in rural areas.
Sani said through the Future Assured programme, a school was being constructed for orphans in Borno, while thousands of women across the federation had benefitted from free medical screening and other support in area of reproductive health, education and empowerment.
In his remarks, the facilitator of the programme, Dr Mahmud Halilu, said the intervention of Qatar Foundation in Adamawa was a welcome development that would impact positively on the people, particularly rural communities.
He urged the people to cooperate with the foundation and other organizations in their efforts to complement government in the area poverty alleviation and provision of portable water.
Responding on behalf of Pariya community, the Administrator of the area, Alhaji Yahya Ardo, expressed their gratitude for what he described as multiple blessings to the people.
“You provided us with food for the needy, while portable water and a befitting place of workship are on their way. This is multiple blessings and we pray God to reward all those involve accordingly,” Ardo said.
Highlight of the occasion was the lying of foundation for the new Mosque to be constructed in Pariya by the Director of Qatar Foundation and the distribution of food items to some needy people in the area in the spirit of Ramadan.
