Adamawa Police Command has confirmed the arrest of four suspects for their role in a mob action that led to the death of eight people in Borong village of Demsa Local Government in Adamawa.Speaking on the incident, the spokesman of the police command, DSP Sulaiman Yahaya Ngoroje, said the eight people killed comprisd bridegroom to be and his team.Yahaya said the late bridegroom who was a vigilante member from neigbouring Shani Local Government of Adamawa came with his friends dressed in vigilante uniform to Borrong village where his bride to be resided to formally asked for her hand in marriage.”On sighting them, some people in Borrong raised alarm that they saw strange faces in uniform and our men immediately invited them to the station.”While they were being interrogated, news went round that some men planning to attack the village have been arrested leading to mob trooping to the station.”The mob over powered our men and lynched the team leading to the death of the groom to be and seven others.”They team were nine in number and only one person who fortunately was not in uniform escaped.”The death bodies were thrown into the river by the mob,” Yahaya said.Yahaya said that investigation was on and the command was on the trail of more suspects on the run.The police spokesman who also spoke on the weekend clash between Njoboli and Njoboliyo communities of Yola South local government said the clash that led to the injury of four people was over land.”We made some arrest and the Commissioner of Police has invited stakeholders including religious leaders from the communities for dialogue and lasting solution on the issue,” Yahaya said.
