The pet project of the wife of president Muhammadu Buhari, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, Future Assured has graduated over 700 beneficiaries from its youth educational empowerment programme (FA-YEEP) in Adamawa state.
National Cordinator of Future Assured program, Dr. Kamal Muhammad disclosed the development at the graduation ceremony held in Yola Thursday stressing that the programme is meant to contribute in the saving the country’s educational sector from total collapse.
Represented at the occasion by Dr. Fatima Aliyu Mubi, Kamal said the empowerment drive focused in capturing out of school children especially the girl child so as to use them in moulding our societies going by the saying “educate a women and she educate the community”.
Kamal stated that out the total number, 300 students were trained on skills acquisition charging them to make the investment in them out.
In his speech the consultant of the programme for Adamawa state, Dr. Naseer Ajoge expressed gratitude to the First Lady, Mrs Buhari and the traditional leaders in the zones captured in the state explaining that 135 students were trained in 2017 while 116 sat for WAEC and NECO examinations and gave out in flying colours.
Ajoge maintained that the centres of project were taken in to the three senatorial districts with Yola South local government Area serving local government area of Central zone,Ganye local government takes care of councils in the Southern zone while Mubi North Carter for councils in Northern zone respectively.
According to him,600 tablets were shared to beneficiaries containing books and software as well as organised a train the trainer capacity building training where 45 teachers were engaged.
Earlier in her keynote address,Initiator of the project and Wife of President Buhari,Mrs Buhari reiterated the commitment of the pet project to assist the less privileged parents in educating their wards who in turns can redouble their number positively.
Represented by her daughter,Halima Muhammadu Buhari,Mrs Buhari appreciated the support being accorded to the project by its partners like North East Development Commission and Petroleum Equalisation Funds in achieving its goals.
She added that the project is impacting positively on the people in the affected communities as it has became a working model that would be replicating for human development.
Mrs Buhari appeals to all hands to be deck to ensure the success of the pet project in Nigeria with special emphasis on the Northern part of the country where there is high rate of out of school children especially girl child.
