
GOC addressing the troops
The Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division Maiduguri and Commander Sector 1, Operation Hadin Kai, Brig. Gen. Abubakar Haruna, has commended Troops of Operation Desert Sanity 111 for their commitment in executing the clearance of Sambisa Forest of remnants of terrorists.
Haruna made the commendation on Saturday while receiving the troops on arrival from Sambisa near Aulari village in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.
“We came all the way to receive you because of the wonderful performance you have put in the course of this operation. You have done wonderfully well and everyone is proud of you.
“You have sacrificed yourselves to ensure that peace and normalcy has returned to Borno..
“On behalf of the Chief of Army Staff and indeed the Theatre Commander, I wish to welcome you back from this operation that was initially for four days but extended to 10 days to meet up with requirements.
“I will implore you not to relent. This is what we expected until there is normalcy. Your effort is not only noticed but documented.
“Keep up doing the good work, it is not over until it’s over,” the Commander urged the troops.
A total of 386 people held hostage by terrorists were rescued in the operation conducted by troops of 21 Special Brigade, 26 Task Force Brigade, Delta Force, 199 Special Forces and Delta Force.
