The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Borno said that only 11,729 newly registered voters have collected their new Permanent Voters Card (PVC) in the state.
The Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity (VEP) of INEC in Borno, Mallam Shuaibu Ibrahim made this known on Wednesday in Maiduguri.
“We recieved 25,171 new PVCs for Borno out of which only 11,729 were collected as at now,” Ibrahim said.
Ibrahim also said that 15, 822 cards were recieved for transfer and replacement out of which 4,336 transfer cards and 1,684 replacement cards had been collected.
Shuaibu said that the commission has engaged in enlightenment of the electorates to come and collect thier cards, adding that there is still 167,209 old PVCs also waiting for collection.
A total of 248, 241 eligible voters are registered during the concluded Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise in Borno.
