The NYSC office in Adamawa has given clarification on the dead of a corp member, Miss Rejoice Sewuese who died in a ghastly motor accident along Jalingo-Mayo-Belwa road in Adamawa.
A statement Thursday by the Head, Press and Public Relations of the NYSC in Yola, Mr Yusufu Philibus, said the corp member was not serving in Adamawa.
He said the affected corps member hailed from Agudu village of Takum LGA of Taraba State and was deployed to Imo state under the 2019 Batch “A” corps members programme.
“At the end of the Orientation Course which took place between Wednesday 27th March to Tuesday 16 April, she was relocated to Gombe state.”
Philibus said she died in the Tuesday accident that claimed five lives on her way to Gombe to report for primary assignment.
He explained that as soon as information on the incident reached the NYSC in Yola, the State Coordinator, Mallam Abubakar Mohammed, ensured that her corpse was evacuated to Specialist Hospital in Yola, while her family and Imo office of the scheme were contacted.
Philibus said the family had delegated her elder brother who came down to Yola to be part of arrangement to convey her corps home for burial.
While extending the condolence of NYSC to the family of the deceased, Philibus urged the public to disregard information making round, particularly in social media trying to mislead the public that the late corp member was yet to be identified.
