NSCDC Deploys 1,500 Personnel For Borno LG Election – Commandant

The Borno Command of the Nigeria Security and Civi Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 1,500 personnel for Saturday Local Government Election in Borno.

The state Commandant, Mr Abdullahi Ibrahim made this known in an interview with newsmen on Wednesday in Maiduguri.

“We are deploying 1,500 personnel including armed personnel, unarmed and undercover to ensure that we provide robust security.

“We have already started work like supporting other security agencies in escorting sensitive and non-sensitive election materials to some parts of the state,” Ibrahim said.

He explained that some personnel would be deployed to displace persons camps with voting center to provide cover while others would be deployed to some identified trouble spots within Maiduguri to contain any possibility of clash between supporters of political parties.

The commandant urged politicians and there supporters appreciate the fact that this is the first time Council election would be conducted in the state in 14 years due to insurgency crisis and be orderly for a hitch free election.

“I want to encourage everyone to be vigilant and security conscious, and not to hesitate in providing information on any suspicious movement during and after the election,” Ibrahim said.
