
Borno First Lady supported by other dignitaries while presenting cash support to women
The Borno State First Lady, Hajiya Falmata Babagana Zulum, has empowered 500 women with N100,000 each to boost their businesses in commemoration of the 63rd anniversary of the country.
Speaking at the occasion, Falmata said the support would enable the women selected from many other applicants scale up their businesses.
“I want to make it clear that today we are supporting 500 women stakeholders who are eager to scale up the capital base of their
respective businesses across the state.
“At this point, I will like to urge those who could not benefit from this program to be patient and remain supportive as they will be considered during the next phase as this program will continue throughout the period of this administration,
“For our beneficiaries, my advice as usual is, use this money for the purpose intended and get the benefit expected of it and also support others as well. This is the true sense of humanity”, Falmata said.
She lauded those who worked for many hours to screened the beneficiaries who emerged for the programme, and urged the beneficiaries to make maximum use of the opportunity to better their lives and that of their families.
While noting that It gladdened her heart and encouraged her to do more whenever she saw women coming together to make their lives or that of fellow women better through politics or organizational means, the first lady said that the event was another way to appreciate the women for thier sustain support to the government.
“The important role women play in not just the entrenchment of democracy but even in ensuring that functional and humanly beneficial democratic system and structure are put in place for all.
“As government, the Zulum led administration in Borno has recognized and appreciated the role women play in all spheres of human endeavor and will continue to support and give women the desired opportunity and support to excel in their chosen career, and this program is one of
such, as contained in the Borno State 25-year development programme.
“Finally, l wish to extend my sincere appreciation to the entire people of Borno State for their understanding and support to this administration and solicited for their continued prayers for peace and to our leaders at all levels to enable them do the right thing for all manner of people
across the country,” Falmata said.
Highlight of the occasion is the presentation of food items to women.
