CP Abdu Umar
A new Commissioner of Police for Borno, Mr Abdu Umar, has assumed work in Maiduguri.
Speaking to newsmen in Maiduguri on Tuesday, Umar said he would deploy technology in policing the state inline with the policy of Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali.
Umar said he had already meet with the state Governor and other stakeholders who promised to support the police in discharging it responsibilities.
The commissioner said that his arrival coincided with the surrendering of Boko-Haram members which he described as a welcome development, adding that the police would explore ways to ensure that insurgents yet join cue were made to do so.
He urged the people of Borno to continue to support the police in providing vital information for effective policing of the state.
