The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has flagged-off Operation Safe Eid in Maiduguri for a hitch free celebration
A statement by Abdulkadir Ibrahim, the Principal Information Officer NEMA North East, said the operation was flagged-off by the Zonal Coordinator of the agency on behalf of the Director General.
“Zonal Coordinator NEMA North East, Lydia Wagami Madu on behalf of the Director General of NEMA Alhaji Mustapha Ahmed Habib flagged off Operation Safe Eid in Maiduguri the Borno Dtate capital.
“The aim of the exercise is to compliment the efforts of FRSC, NURTW and other relevant stakeholders in managing and responding to road crashes and also to sensitise motorists and other road users during the yuletide celebration when traffic is high.
“After the flag-off, the Zonal and her team visited the Federal Road Safety Corps Borno state command office for a strategy meeting,” Ibrahim said.
He also said that the emergency response team moved round the town to places like Mala Kachalla Round About around Pompomari bye-pass where it sensitized motorists on road safety.
