A Chinese Company, Mutual Commitment Group (MCG) in collaboration with the North East Development Commission (NEDC) is to engage in handling interventions in various sectors in the ongoing Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement programme being executed in North East by NEDC.
The Chairman of NEDC Board, Retired Maj. Gen. Paul Tarfa, made this known shortly after a meeting of the board with officials of the company on Tuesday in Maiduguri.
Tarfa said the signing of Memorandum of Understanding with officials of the company was part of measures by the commission to scale up its interventions in the six states of North East comprising Borno, Adamawa, Yobe, Gombe, Taraba and Bauchi.
According to the NEDC Chairman, the over one decade attrocities perpetrated by the insurgents in the region was alarming and needed to be address through a short and long term durable solutions.
He said that the company would be engaged in areas of renewable Energy/power generation, health care, education, agriculture, roads construction, jobs creation, poverty alleviation, rehabilitation and resettlement among others.
Also speaking to Journalists, the Managing Director of MCG, Mr Long Liu, reiterated the commitment of the company to deliver in good term.
“We are to start prioritizing key areas such as reconstruction, ecological and climate change, power, transportation, resettlement, education and hosts of other projects.
“We want to assure the people in the region and Nigerians that MCG would do its best to change the narratives, through reintegrated approach mechanism, and to also attract more investment opportunities” he said.
