The newly appointed Managing Director/CEO of North East Development Commission (NEDC), Umar Abubakar Hashidu, has assured staff of the commission of his administration commitment to staff welfare for maximum productivity in meeting the commission’s mandate.
Hashidu gave the assurance in a meeting with the commission’s management and staff at its headquarters in Maiduguri.
Hashidu stressed the significance of staff welfare and development in ensuring effective processes and procedures towards meeting the welfare needs of the people in Northeast.
He emphasized that a motivated workforce is central to achieving the Commission’s objectives, and that all staff needed to have a sense of belonging and purpose to deliver on the mandate of rebuilding and rehabilitating the Northeast Zone.
The Acting MD/CEO solicited the support and cooperation of all staff, adding that his doors would remain open for any meaningful suggestions or recommendations aim at moving NEDC forward.
“This move is aimed at ensuring that staff have a voice in the Commission’s decision-making processes, which will help to improve their sense of belonging and motivation,” Hashidu said.
Also speaking, the new Acting Chairman of the NEDC, Barrister Bashir Bukar Ba’ale, who also inspected facilities of the commission, thanked management staff for their services and urged them to adhere to the Civil Service rules and Public Procurement Act in thier dealings.
It will be recall that President Muhammadu Buhari’ last week ordered the assumption of duty by the New Governing Board after the pioneer leadership’s tenure expired on May 7th to prevent a vacuum in the NEDC’s daily operations.
The confirmation of the new board by the Senate is pending, as confirmed by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media, Garba Shehu, in a press statement.
