The North East Development Commission (NEDC), has concluded a four-day in-house capacity building training for Store Officers and other stakeholders from its offices in Borno, Adamawa, Yobe, Bauchi, Gombe and Taraba states.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the training in Maiduguri, the Managing Director/CEO of the commission, Mohammed Alkali Goni represented by the General Manager Administration and Finance, Dr Waziri Samuel, tasked the staff to ensure usage of knowledge they acquired in perfecting the operations of the commission.

Samuel said the commission values the uniqueness of those handling its assets in stores and warehouses hence the need to train them on  handling its resources for maximum results.

“The management carefully designed the workshop to ensure that it impacts on staff that are in charge of our stores, having realized the importance and significance of the store in the commission, and we look forward to seeing improvement in store management.

“I want to urge the participants of this training to ensure that Knowledge acquired here is brought to bear by reflecting on their activities,” he said.

Some of the participants who spoke, lauded the management for the training opportunity which they said had impacted on their knowledge and skills.

Ali Ibrahim Abbas, a participant who is also the Coordinator of NEDC in Yobe State, said the training has enabled him to have clear knowledge of certain things he was not clear about initially.

“This training has enhanced my capacity and skills to be able to differentiate what is asset, what is liability and what is expenses as well as what to do if we have issues of expired items or about to expire items. We were taught how to arrest such challenges to avoid waste.

“We are also enlightened on proper use of store ledgers and other things that are vital for efficiency and accountability,” Abbas said.

Also speaking, Easter Sabo, a staff  of the Borno office, said the training was worthwhile in updating her knowledge to make the needed difference in her job in the commission.
