NECAS acquires 600 tractors for farmers in North East

The North East Commodity Association (NECAS) has taken delivery of 600 tractors to support farmers involved in Anchor Borrowers Programme (ABP) in North East.

NECAS is the commodity association accredited by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to implement the Anchor Borrowers Programme in North East.

Speaking while receiving the tractors in a ceremony at NECAS headquarters in Yola, the National President of NECAS, Alhaji Sadiq Daware, said the tractors would boost mechanize farming by members.

Daware said the tractors were of various types that could work in loamy and sandy soils.

“We have not compromise standard and our team of experts have carefully selected these brand so that it will give us the value and the result that we want.

“Our strategy is that for any farming cycle we keep on improving and increasing the number of tractors,” Daware said.

He noted that the tractors would be distributed to assist members in Adamawa, Gombe, Borno, Taraba, Borno and Bauchi states, adding that the tractors would be shared based on number of it members in each state.

“For instance, Adamawa has the highest number of members with about 17, 000 followed by Gombe with about 15,000,” Daware said.

He lauded Adamawa Government for giving the association land to construct its headquarters and Micro Finance Bank among others.
