Nat’l secretariat endorses Idris Shuaibu as Adamawa APC substantive chairman
The national Secretariat of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has endorsed the ratification of Barr. Idris Shuaibu as the substantive chairman of Adamawa State chapter of the party.
During a meeting of the state executive committee of the party last week which took place at the state secretariat of the party, Barr. Idris Shuaibu was ratified as the substantive chairman so as to fill the void created by the resignation of Ibrahim Bilal who voluntarily relinquished the position.
Since the resignation of Bilal, Samaila Taddawus has held sway as the acting chairman of the party.
But stakeholders from Adamawa north where the chairmanship of the state chapter was zoned to in a letter to the state secretariat unanimously endorsed Shuaibu to serve as the substantive chairman of the party.
The former speaker of Adamawa State house of assembly, Kabir Mijinyawa during a state executive committee meeting of the party last week, moved the motion for the ratification of Shuaibu as the substantive chairman. The motion was seconded by the ALGON chairman of the party who doubles as Girei LG chairman of APC, Hon Abubakar Audu.
Thereafter, Shuaibu was duly sworn-in as the substantive chairman of the party.
This paper learnt from sources close to the APC national secretariat that the acting national chairman of APC, Sen, Abu Kyari endorsed the ratification of Barr. Idris Shuaibu saying that the action was in conformity with the laws of the party.
“During a meeting with excos of the party from the zone led by the north east zonal vice chairman of the party, Comrade Mustapha Salihu, the acting national chairman, Sen Abu Kyari today gave the ratification of Idris Shuaibu a clean bill of health as he said it was in agreement with the constitution of the party.
“The acting national chairman even invited the new chairman of Adamawa APC to attend the NEC meeting of the party slated for tomorrow at the national secretariat of the party.
“In turn, the immediate past acting chairman of the party who was at the meeting reiterated his loyalty to the new chairman adding that he will remain a dutiful and loyal deputy to Shuaibu in the interest of moving the party forward,” our source disclosed.
In a phone chat with our reporter, the organizing secretary of APC in Adamawa State, Mustapha Atiku Ribadu confirmed the development.
“It is true we met with the acting national chairman of our party Sen. Abu Kyari where he endorsed the ratification of Barr. Idris Shuaibu as the substantive chairman saying that what we did was right and well within the party’s constitution.
“Before the meeting with the acting national chairman, the north east vice chairman of the party, Comrade Mustapha Salihu has convened a meeting with excos of the party from the zone where the chairmanship of Shuaibu was endorsed.
“He later led us to a meeting with the acting national chairman of the party, today in the afternoon who also blessed the action saying that it was in tandem with the constitution of our great party,” he said.
