NAOWA 7 Division Launches Tricycle Shuttle

The 7 Division Chapter of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) in Maiduguri on Saturday flagged-off the first phase of NAOWA Tricycle Shuttle service to enhance transportation in Maimalari Cantonment.

The unveiling ceremony was performed by the Chairperson of the chapter who is also the wive of the GOC 7 Division.

She said the measure was to ameliorate the hardship being faced in area of conducive transport by residents in the Cantonment,  particularly women and children.

“On assumption of office, I observed that one of the challenges faced by the families of our soldiers particularly women and children in Maimalari Cantonment was the movement from the accommodation areas to the cantonment gate”, she said pointing out the lack of adequate space for goods purchased by the usual motor-cycle that dominate transportation in the Cantonment.

“I considered it wise and as a matter of utmost importance to procure 3 units of tricycles (popularly called Keke NAPEP) to ferry them at a cheaper rate with the ultimate aim to alleviate the suffering of women and children in particular and the entire cantonment community in general,” she said while pointing out that the gesture was in line with the visionary and sterling leadership of the NAOWA President, Mrs Salamatu Faruk Yahaya.

The Chairperson thereafter disclosed that in a bid to reduce the discomfort to our families “I considered it wise and as a matter of utmost importance to procure 3 units of tricycles (popularly called Keke NAPEP) to ferry them at a cheaper rate with the ultimate aim to alleviate the suffering of women and children in particular and the entire cantonment community in general she added.


She explained that the flagged off with stated the three tricycles was Phase 1 of  the plans lined up to further enhanced the welfare of families in the barracks as well as create conducive teaching and learning enviroment for  teachers and pupils in NAOWA Nursery and Primary School.

Highlights of the occasion includes the unveiling and presentation of the Tricycles to the operators and test ride by the Chairperson and the GOC 7 Divison chauffeured by the Magajiya of the Cantonment.
