
GOC 7 Division Maiduguri
Officers and men of the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri on Friday observed special Jumma’at prayers to commemorate 2022 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL).
Speaking to newsmen after the prayers, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division Maiduguri, who is also the Commander Sector 1 Operation Hadin Kai North East, Maj. Gen. Waidi Shuaibu said that NADCEL is an annual event also used by the Army to assess issues and make better preparations for improved security.
Shuaibu urged troops in the division to continue to remain resilience, committed and dodged in their effort to bring the insurgency to an end.
Shuaibu also noted that the ongoing mass surrender by insurgents in Borno showed a positive sign that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
He said that at the national level, the event would be held in Owerri where personnel who distinguished themselves including two from the Theatre would be honoured with medals and Chief of Army Staff Award for distinguishing themselves within the period under review.
The GOC explained that the NADCEL event which started with the special Jummaat prayers would be followed with similar Sunday denomination prayer in Church, Medical Outreach, support to less privilege in the society and sanitation exercise.
During the prayers held in Maimalari Cantonment Jumma’at Mosque, the Chief Imam, Lt. Col. Kabiru Yakubu prayed for God guidance and successes for the Army in its operations to ensure peace and sanity in Nigeria.
Yakubu prayed for the Commander In Chief, Chief of Defence Staff, Service Chiefs, and Commanders at all levels in thier efforts to lead the nation out of the current security challenges.
While praying for those who paid the supreme prize in defence of the nation and speedy recovery for those injured, the Imam urged troops engage in national service to defend the nation and its citizens to see thier role as a big sacrifice to humanity.
“Whoever paid the supreme prize in such an operations to defend humanity died a martyr,” the Imam stressed.
The 2022 celebration has the theme: ”Repositioning the Nigerian Army in the Joint Operations Environment: A Panacea for Success in Addressing Contemporary Security Challenges”.
Other Principal Officers under the division who graced the Friday prayers along with the GOC include: Brig. Gen. Dan Umar Suleiman, Brig Gen. M.A Sadiq, Brig. Gen. S.Y Yakasai, Col. S.O Bello, Col. A.J Ahmed, Col A.A Ude, and Col. U. Garba.
