The Mubi Area Command Police Community Relation Committee (PCRC) has paid visit to Mubi Prison where it presented educational materials and some donations to inmates.
Speaking during the visit, the chairman of the committee, Alhaji Baba Hayatu who was represented by the Vice Chairman, Abdulrahman Mutawalli, said the gesture was part of its social responsibility to the needy in the society including inmates and orphans.
He reiterated the commitment of the committee to work for humanity and mobilize support for the Nigerian Police to succeed in its renewed effort to check crime in the society.
He said the committee had been holding meetings and consultations with stakeholders, particularly security agencies and tertiary institutions in Mubi Zone to build strong synergy in combating cultism and other violent crimes.
In his remarks, the Deputy Controller of the Correctional Service, Mr Sylvanus Yakubu, thanked members of the PCRC for the gesture and urged other associations to emulate it.
Yakubu said the Mubi Correction Centre was established in 1938.
Items donated to the inmates include education instructional materials, assorted drugs, mats, clothes, shoes, detergents and religious books.
