The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has provided a solar powered borehole with a 10 cubic litres of water tank to Litri Community in Chad.
A statement by the spokesman of the MNJTF on Tuesday from the headquarters in N’Djamena, Lt. Col. Olaniyi Osoba, said the development was in line with its commitment to continue to improve the lives of communities in the Lake Chad Region.
It said that the people oriented project in the border community of Litri located about five kilometres from Nigeria’s border was inaugurated by the Force Commander of MNJTF, Maj.Gen. Ibrahim Ali, in company of other key commanders of Sector 2 of the MNJTF in Bagasola and that of Defence Council International.

Gen. Ali said that the borehole project expected to provide clean and safe water to the community was made possible through the generous support of the European Union and their partners under the Defence Council International.
“The FC stated that the borehole facility symbolizes a shared commitment to improving the lives of members of communities within the Lake Chad region by ensuring their fundamental right to access clean water.
“He therefore tasked the people of Litri Community to make judicious use of the water facility as more similar initiatives will be done if he is impressed with how the facility is being managed,” the statement added.
According to the statement, the representative of the Commander Sector 2 Gen. Oumar Adam Silik, who earlier spoke on the successful collaboration with the civilian populace in the area for positive developments, urged members of the community on proper management of the facility for maximum results.
He also called for more of such support by the European Union to other commodities.

In his remarks, the Boulama (traditional ruler) of Litri community, thanked MNJTF and all those responsible for the support which he said was a big relief to the people.
“The newly installed water solar powered borehole facility has a capacity of 10 cubic litres and is equipped with solar panels for water treatment, micro filters, and an automatic chrome dispenser. It also has a high-voltage pump to ensure efficient water supply.
“This essential facility is the result of a partnership between the MNJTF, Defense Council International (DCI), and TRACT SARL, funded by the European Union,” the statement added
