Force Commander MNJTF
The new Force Commander (FC) of Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Maj. Gen. G.U Chibuisi, has commenced familiarisation visits to sectors in the region.
A statement by the Chief Military Public Information Officer of the MNJTF, Lt. Col. Kamarudeen Adegoke, said the FC who was accompanied by the Deputy FC, Brig. Gen Assoualai Blama and other senior officers visited Sector 2 in Bagasola, Chad, and Sector 4 in Diffa, Niger.
According to the statement, while in sector 2, the FC was received by the Commander, Brig. Gen. Youssouf Mahamat Itno, who briefed him on operational activities, achievements and challenges.
In his response, the FC commended the troops for commitment towards ending the insurgency in the Lake Chad Basin Region and urged them to sustain the tempo.
” He urged the Sector not to relent in its efforts noting that the massive surrender of BH/ISWAP Terrorists and their families which has also reflected in enhanced social and economic activities signify an end in sight of terrorists activities in the Lake Chad Basin region.
“Speaking further, the FC stated that the MNJTF will not rest on its oars in order to bring total peace to the region. The Sector Commander thanked the FC for the visit and promised to continue activities geared towards the realization of the MNJTF’s mandate.
“Similarly, the FC MNJTF Maj. Gen G.U Chibuisi also paid a familiarisation visit to Sector 4 MNJTF Diffa (Niger). He was received on arrival by the Commander Sector 4 Col.Maj Mamman Sani Kiaou and was adequately briefed on the activities of the Sector.
“The FC in his remarks said that Sector 4 has performed creditably well and applauded the Sector’s efforts in degrading the capability of the terrorists in the area. He commended the standard of discipline of troops of the Sector which he said was evidenced in the glaring operational achievements recorded by the Sector.
“He further urged them to sustain the tempo until the insurgents were completely routed out of the Lake Chad Basin region. He praised troops of the Sector for being Professional and responsive in discharging their duties and assured them of the continuous support of the MNJTF.
“Earlier, the Commander Sector 4 congratulated the FC on his appointment and expressed delight receiving him. He said the visit has encouraged them to do more in the quest to end the activities of terrorists in the Lake Chad Basin region. He added that the Sector will not spare any efforts at bringing total peace to the region,” the statement added.
While in Diffa, the FC visited the US Army Camp where he appreciated the US Army for its strategic partnership towards the fight against terrorism and insurgency in the region.
He urged for more cooperation and collaboration to facilitate final clampdown on the terrorists.
Captain Ney of the US Army camp in Diffa, expressed appreciation for the visit and emphasized the need to work together to bring an end to terrorists activities in the area.
The FC also paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Diffa region, Mr Smaine Younousse, who congratulated the FC on his appointment describing it as “a well deserved one” and urged him to use his wealth of experience in the ongoing fight against insurgency.
Earlier, the FC who briefed the Governor on his mission, lauded the governor’s support to Sector 4 and urged for sustenance for more successes.
