Many communities in my senatorial zone permanently displaced – Sen Yeroe

The senator representing Adamawa South senatorial zone, Binos Yeroe has decried ceaseless attacks by gunmen on communities in his constituency.

Contributing to a motion presented by senator Ali Ndume, the senator said five out of nine local governments within his constituency have been under regular and constant attacks by gunmen.

“As a matter of fact, my senatorial district is seriously affected by the various attacks. Out of the nine local governments of the senatorial district five have been on the constant end of these attacks whether you call them attacks by bandits whether you call them insurgents attacks or even Fulani herdsmen attack, we have been constantly attacked,” he said.

He noted that as a result of such incessant attacks, many communities have been permanently dislodged as inhabitants take refuge in IDP camps.

“Our people have been forced to leave their homes and move to IDP camps. Every effort to return and rebuild their damaged homes is met with opposition,” he added.

Yaroe noted that all efforts by the affected communities to return back to their land have been resisted by their attackers.

He added that residents of one of the dislodged villages have made an attempt to rebuild their village but were still attacked during the exercise.

“There was even a case where a particular village made an effort to return and rebuild their homes and while they were doing that, they were attacked again,”

The senator called on his colleagues to support the cause and salvage the lot of the affected communities cutting across many states.

In another vein, the senator has also expressed dismay over the resubmission of the name of Alhaji Aliyu Saidu Abubakar to represent the north east zone as non executive commissioner for the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

He noted that as a senator from the zone, he has interest on those who will represent his zone noting that it is a misnomer that the person who was rejected by the 8th senate was still brought back.

Yaroe added that when his name was mentioned as a nominee from the zone, he googled the man’s name to see whether he has improved educationally but to his dismay the nominee could only brag of a diploma which was the basis for his rejection by the 8th senate.
