The Konduga Local Government Area of Borno has observed special prayers for divine intervention over regular vandalism of power transmission towers in the area.
Maiduguri town and environs have been experiencing regular blackouts for the past two years as a result of vandals activities targeting national grid transmission towers along the Maiduguri – Damaturu road.
The vandals suspected to be insurgents and their collaborators have been carrying out attacks on the line to create hardship for residents of the Maiduguri town and environs.
Speaking of the special prayers, the Information Officer of Konduga LGA, Ashiekh Mohammed Chabbal, said the prayer was organized by the Council Chairman, Alhaji Abba Ali Abbari in compliance with a directive from the state governor.
Mohammed said that communities around the areas where the vandals mostly operate were enlightened to make them realize how serious the issue was that led to the invoking of Allah’s wraths on perpetrators of the dastardly act.
“Our Chairman organized the prayers in compliance with a directive from the Governor.
“We have spoken to communities in the area of the implication of such action and the consequences, particularly now that special prayers and sacrifice are made to expose perpetrators and collaborators,” Mohammed said.
