Kidnapping:  Police ban motorcycles in Adamawa

 Disturbed by the increase rate of kidnapping and other crimes plaguing communities in Adamawa, the state police command had on Tuesday announced the banning of motorcycles operation in all the 21 Local Government Areas of state.

 

Before now, following return of normalcy and with the exception of the hitherto Boko Haram override seven local governments areas of Madagali, Michika, Mubi North, Mubi South, Maiha, Hong and Gombi areas there were partial motorcycle operations in some parts of the state.

The command spokesman, SP Othman Abubakar, said the ban had become necessary to check the incessant use of motorcycle by criminals for their operations.

 

“The Adamawa State Police Command wishes to inform the general public of the total ban of the use of motorcycles throughout the state, that is the 21 Local Government Areas of the state, till further notice.

“This has become necessary because of the incessant use of such motorcycles in the commission of heinous crimes such as kidnapping, armed banditry, communal clashes and other criminal activities in the state.

“By this announcement, the command will go all out on aggressive patrol and arrest of any defaulter of this directive.”

To this end, the police spokesman urged the public to be law abiding, support and cooperate with the police in it’s effort to ensure peace and rid the state of criminals.
