Kano State Government has shut a medical facility with a fake medical doctor and health officers operating at the centre.
The Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA) Under the State Ministry of Health, in it’s continued routine inspections and Supervision to monitor activities of private health institutions in the state and other illegal practice, discovered the suspect, who claimed to be a qualified doctor, at a private maternity home, named, Family Maternity and Clinic situated on Hadejia road Yankaba in Nassarawa local government area.
This was contained in a statement issued by the state ministry of health public relations officer, Ismaila Garba Gwammaja and forwarded to newsmen on Thursday.
The statement said the Executive Secretary of the agency Dr Usman Tijjani Aliyu further explained that the operation was carried out jointly with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Mohammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital.
It could be recalled that a joint operation of the agency and the Nigerian Medical Association had on January,27th apprehended a suspected fake Medical Doctor, Ibrahim Adamu who engaged in the illegal act for years before his arrest and on February 4th arrested another fake medical doctor, Christie John.
It said Dr Usman explained that the fake Medical Doctor at the hospital named, Samira Abubakar, was said to be an Auxiliary Nurse, and was performing beyond her license as she was discovered to be carrying out gynecological procedure’s ranging from abortion to Cesarean Section (CS).
‘’The fake medical doctor was charging about one hundred and fifty thousand naira (150,000) for CS only, and she employed secondary students to serve as nurses in the hospital which is against the ethics of the profession, ‘’alleged Dr Usman Aliyu.
He added that the Clinic has been shut and the suspect would be prosecuted when arrested as she is presently on the run.
The statement added that a criminal case has been filed against the suspects.
