JUST IN: 20 people killed, several missing as suspected gunmen renew attacks

Reports say that not less than 20 people have been reportedly killed by gunmen in a fresh attack on chibuak and kigudu II communities in Kauru Local Government area of Kaduna State.

The two villages were reportedly attacked on Thursday and Friday at midnight while some of the villagers were said to be missing.

It was learnt that the bandits struck yet again on Saturday in Kigudu II, where a mass burial being carried out by the villagers was underway.

The bandits were however pushed back by security personnel and the burial was hurriedly done without the usual rites.

The Parish Priest of Damakasuwa Outstation, Rev. Fr. Aaron Tanko, who oversees the two communities, confirmed the incident, he said 20 persons were killed while some others were still missing.

He said in Chibuak village, nine people were killed while 11 were killed in Kigudu II.

The Parish priest expressed his grief on security matters in the community over the past few days, saying people could no longer go to their farmland anymore because they are afraid of what may befall them.

He appealed to the Government to come to their rescue and get rid of herdsmen and bandits terrorising their community.

In the meantime, the state police command is yet to comment on the attack.
