
The MD of NEDC and members of the committee inspecting damaged portion of Alau Dam spill way
The House of Representatives Committee on North East Development Commission (NEDC) has commenced assessment of NEDC multi billion Naira intervention projects in Borno.
The committee led by its Chairman, Rep. Usman Zannah, inspected housing and roads projects linking large farming communities in Jere and Mafa Local Government Areas as well as the rehabilitation of damaged portion of Alau Dam Emergency spillway among others.
Speaking on the projects visited, Zannah expressed satisfaction with the interventions and quality of work done.
“We are here to examine, to see and evaluate the NEDC. We have gone round, we have seen what the commission has done, particularly the roads in Jere bowl linking many farming communities in Jere and Mafa LGAs.
“We want to commend the Managing Director and management of NEDC for the performance,” Zannah said.
Zannah, who also witnessed the distribution of 1,000 water pumps, 400 cartons of herbicides, 200 spaghetti making machines and 200 grinding machines to farmers in Jere and Mafa LGAs by NEDC, urged beneficiaries to make maximum use of the empowerment items provided to them.
He also commended the commitment of NEDC to boosting agriculture and empowerment of communities affected by the insurgency.
