Gunmen attack Adamawa community, kill 7, injure others

No fewer than seven members of Negga community, a sleepy village in Numan local government area of Adamawa State were massacred in cold blood following a Tuesday night attack by yet to be identified gun wielding assailants.

Reports also indicated that several others have been injured during the attack which lasted for hours without any help coming to the hapless community.

Sources from the area told our correspondent that the heavily armed assailants stormed Negga between 11 pm and12am on Tuesday and opened fire on the community.

Negga, a community under Bolki ward, located at the border between Adamawa and Taraba, had suffered a series of attacks in recent past.

Wednesday afternoon, the State House of Assembly strongly condemned the attack and urged the government and security agencies to fish out the perpetrators.

Deputy Speaker and member representing Numan constituency, Pwamwakeno Mackondo, said, “The inhabitants of Negga in my constituency were attacked by armed men as a result of which seven were killed, while seven others sustained injuries.

“The community has a history of attacks by unknown gunmen.” He called for the establishment of a military unit in the area to protect the people.
