A human rights group, Centre For Human Rights Advocacy in Taraba on Saturday has the Nigerian military headquarters to investigate the alleged extrajudicial killing of a civilian by some soldiers in Dan- Anacha -Gassol local government area of State.

It was alleged that a local businessman in Dan Anacha , Ibrahim Usman Manu, 38-year-old, has died from injuries he sustained in the hands of some power-drunk soldiers attached to the area.

The deceased is survived by two wives and 10 children.

Speaking on the alleged killing, the state coordinator of the group, Mr. Gambo Daud, said, ‘’ our preliminary investigations have revealed that the deceased was whisked away by two suspected soldiers who are under Baruwa barrack but deployed to Dan Anacha, they took him away on the soldiers’ patrol bike to their camp.

‘’ Twenty four (24) hours later, his dead body was found dumped.

“We have consistently been saying the Nigerian government needs to ensure that the culture of impunity and brutalism which is entrenched within some security personnel are addressed.

“Investigation must be conducted and those found to have (committed) such alleged atrocities must be held accountable,” he said.

As tears rolled down on his face, a  younger brother to the deceased,  Abdullahi Usman Manu said, ” It was on 6/10/2020,  a group of two  Nigerian army that has a camp in my village  Dan Anacha took him in the presence of his first wife, to their camp.

“They just ask him are you, Ibrahim? He said yes, then they asked him to enter their patrol bike which he did quietly no argument.

“After that, we were told to stay back and wait until the next day. Which we did…

“Therefore, as we are waiting we just heard the news of his dead body found in a Tiv speaking area indicating it was thrown there in a bush…

“We tried to ask the soldiers what happened they didn’t give us a chance up till now, none of these soldiers give us, the offense he committed,” said his younger brother.

Medical reports obtained from the Primary Health Care Unit, Dan Anacha  indicates that ” he was beaten and injured internally lower abdominal to his ankle leg resulted to his death. ”

When contacted police spokesman in the state DSP David Misal said, “the matter was reported to police and investigation is on to establish the facts of the matter.
