
Zulum in Bama
The Governor of Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has supervised the distribution of N225m cash and assorted food items to over 70,000 vulnerable families in Bama Local Government Area.
A statement from the Press Unit of Government House, said that Zulum spent two nights in Bama coordinating the humanitarian activities and engaging security operatives in discussing how best to improve the security of communities in the area.
Among the beneficiaries of the Governor’s intervention are 45,000 females who got N5000 in cash and one wrapper each, and 25,000 male heads of households who got food items comprising a bag of rice and a bag of maize.
The Governor reiterated the commitment of his administration to sustain the palliative distribution of food and cash to communities affected by the insurgency as the struggle to pick up their livelihood.
“In continuation of our efforts to provide assistance to the less privileged, we are here in Bama town of Bama Local Government Area. This LGA is one of those severely affected by Boko Haram violence and access to agriculture and livelihood is still limited,” Zulum said.
The governor was accompanied by the Borno palliative distribution committee chairman, Rep. Bukar Talba, Rep. Zainab Gimba, Finance Commissioner, Ali Ahmed, that of Works and Housing, Engr. Mustapha Gubio, as well as that of Local Government and Emirate Affairs, Sugun Mai Mele.
