Gov. Zulum pleads to host 2020 NYSC Orientation

The Executive Governor of Borno state, His Excellency Professor Babagana Zulum has appealed to the management of National Youth Service Corps to consider the possibility of returning to the state the right to host Orientation course with effect from 2020.

The governor made the appeal on Thursday at Government House in Maiduguri when he hosted the Director General NYSC, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim.

Governor Zulum said that the security situation in the state has improved to the extent that all organizations and individuals are going about their normal activities.

While commending security operatives for their relentless efforts in combating pockets of elements that try to breach the peace from time to time in remote communities of the state, the governor said his administration will continue to provide whatever it can to ensure that total normalcy returns to the ‘Home of Peace’.

On issue of welfare of Corps members, the academician cum politician assured the Director General that the state will enhance allowances paid to Corps members.

Earlier, the Director General NYSC told his host that he was in Borno state to appreciate the government and people of the state, as well as security agencies for giving protection to Corps members.

On orientation course hosting right, General Ibrahim advised the governor to liaise with the top echelon of the nation’s security, whom he said have the power to give clearance on an issue of that magnitude.

Immediately after his courtesy call to the Government House, the Director General went to NYSC Secretariat, situated at Federal Secretariat Complex, Maiduguri, where he felicitated with 2018 Batch ‘A’ Corps members on their passing-out from service.
