Gov Zulum Lauds Resumption Of Crude Oil Exploration In Borno

Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno has expressed the excitement of the Government and people of Borno over the resumption of crude oil exploration in the state.

President Muhammadu Buhari is expected on Tuesday to flag-off Wadi-B drilling campaign in Tuba Community of Jere LGA in Borno five years after it was suspended by Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NNPC) in July 2017 following attack by terrorists on personnel conducting the exercise

Zulum who was speaking to a team of NNPC personnel who paid him a courtesy call on the exercise on Sunday, said the resumption was good news and one of the happiest moment for the people of Borno.

He assured NNPC and all involved in the project of his administration’s commitment to support to the project for maximum result.

“My administration will provide the political will to drive the process,” Zulum said.

Earlier, the Managing Director, Energy Services Ltd of the NNPC,  Mrs Sophia Nbake, who gave the history of oil prospecting in Borno, said a lot of work has been done in that direction.

“We have deployed 2D and intend to carryout 3D,” Nbake said.

She noted that rig has been assembled for the exercise in Tuba, and lauded Borno Government and security agencies for their support to the project.

“We see the passion, dedication and commitment, and will assure you that we will not fail you,” Nbake said.

She also gave assurance in delivering the project in a safe manner that would not harm the community and environment.
