Gov Zulum Lauds Borno Lawmaker For Quality Representation

Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno on Wednesday commended Rep. Haruna Mshelia of Hawul/Askira Uba Federal Constituency in Borno State for quality representation and providing dividends of democracy to his people.

Zulum made the commendation while commissioning one of the newly installed transformers (constituency projects) connecting Hausari Zadawa communities in Askira/Uba Local Government Area, which is amongst the seven communities that benefited from the gesture.

Zulum who is in Askira/Uba Local Government on a three-day assesment and commissioning of projects tour said the gesture by the lawmaker was commendable.

Speaking at one of the sites of his constituency projects, Mshelia who is the Chairman House Committee on COVID-19, informed the Governor that, since 2019, when he came on board to represent his people at the National Assembly, he has provided functional KVA Transformers in Shaffa, Tashan Alade, Mbulatawiwi, Agabura, Gwangzang and Bilatum communities in Hawul LGA.

“Since I came on board to represent my people at the National Assembly, apart from this one commissioned today in Hausari Zadawa, I have provided functional KVA Transformers to the people of Shaffa, Tashan Alade, Mbulatawiwi, Agabura, Gwangzang and Bilatum communities in Hawul.

“This is in addition to replacement of 10 pols and re-string of the line to Pama, erection and ongoing construction of new substation with new transformer at Chambhan Bulguma village in Askira Uba and the extension of electricity from Kida town to Bolikatau and Gwongwa villages”. Mshelia said.

He noted that the establishment of new sub-station with new ones at Chambham Bulguma, Askira, Kida, Bolikatau and Gwongwa could link these communities to enjoy the national grid, boost economy and revive dormant cottage industries in the state.

According to Mshelia, education is the bedrock of society, hence, he has constructed new blocks of classrooms in many communities to improve standard of education especially at the grassroots.

The completion of two blocks of classrooms each in seven communities of Malang, Hyera, Nyalku, Tashan Gauta, Kwagushar among others, according to him, would also promote girl child education and literacy among households.

On empowering youths, the legislator said: ‘We’ve engaged 100 youths in hair dressing and handset repairs with kits.”

He noted that his constituent which predominantly relied on agriculture as means of livelihoods, procured and distributed two 30 Tone trucks of fertilizer which were distributed free to farmers during the 2020 cropping season, even as he said, plans are on the way to provide similar gesture for this year’s farming season.

Being a medical doctor and Chairman House Committee on COVID 19, Dr Mshelia said, he has provided Covid 19 control and prevention materials to all the General Hospitals and Primary healthcare institutions across the constituency, in addition to the establishment of four National Identification Management Commission (NIMC) centers which are located in Marama, Askira, Uba and Shaffa towns to enhance social distancing and other stresses experienced by his citizenry.

On humanitarian crisis faced by his people affected following Boko Haram atrocities, the lawmaker said, a total of 14, 90 Tone Trucks of assorted food and non food items have been procured and shared to victims in Askira Uba and Hawul communities since 2019 to date, with distribution of 22 assorted vehicles to cushion the logistic hardships faced by his supporters, in addition to scholarship offered to 250 students, mostly the vulnerable ones in the constituency.

He also listed Kida, Shaffa, Kwagushar and other communities which benefitted in the robust repairing and drilling of boreholes, as well as the ongoing 500 meters Asphalt Road within Azare, the Headquarter of Hawul Local Government Area, 1km road and drainages each in Askira and Uba towns.
