President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday endorsed Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno for second term.
Buhari made the endorsement in Maiduguri while Speaking at the inauguration of Maiduguri 50-Megawatts electricity gas plant constructed by Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited.
According to Buhari who is visiting Maiduguri for the fifth time, Zulum has distinguished himself in providing dividends of democracy to the people.
Buhari said that he could not remember the number of projects executed by Zulum that he had inaugurated during his visits to the state.
Buhari thanked the governor for keeping to his campaign promises to the people of the State.
He declared that the governor who is seeking a second term in office, deserves to be re-elected.
”Your Excellency, I cannot remember the number of projects I commissioned during your first tenure, these laudable projects are impressive. I thank you.
”We also acknowledge the excellent work that you have done, working closely with the Federal Government and other stakeholders, to bring back the IDPs and refugees from Cameroon and other neighboring countries. I think the Governor deserves another term,” Buhari said.
Some of the state government projects inaugurated by Buhari during the visit included ultra modern Bama road motor park and market, doctors’ quarters, dualized Ahmadu Bello Way, and Bolori market road.
Buhari also visited the burnt Maiduguri Monday Market and Shehu of Borno palace to sympathise with the Government and people of the state over the incident.
