Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has Monday approved the promotion of his Director General Media and communications, Solomon Kumangar as well as nine others as permanent secretaries in the state civil service.

Their appointment followed the release of qualifying exam results conducted by Administrative Staff College of Nigeria where they alongside others participated last year.
Earlier in his remarks before announcement of the exam results, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said the conduct of the exam was a policy thrust of his administration.
He said the exam which has jettisoned nepotism in the appointment of permanent secretaries had been successful and acceptable to civil servants in the state.
The Governor lamented how people were given the position days to their retirement before the advent of his administration, but government under his watch was able to change the narrative.
He congratulated all those that participated in the exams, and urged the lucky ones to justify reasons for their selection to ensure full implementation of the policy thrust of the present administration.
In his welcome address, the State Head of Service Doctor Edgar Amos Sunday saluted Governor Fintiri for the polical will and moral support for instituting and sustaining the exams.
He said the use of exam as a criteria for selecting permanent secretaries is objective and any civil servant that has attained and passed the exam can qualify for the position.
