A leading election observer group, the Transition Monitoring Group (TMG), has urged for renewed commitment by stakeholders toward a more peaceful, free and fair election in Borno.
The State Coordinator of the group, Mr Ibrahim Muhammad Ngamdu made the call on Wednesday in Maiduguri during a sensitization rally ahead of Saturday Governorship and State Assembly election.
Muhammad lauded the peaceful manner the presidential election was observed in most areas of the state and urged for more improvement in Saturday election.
He tasked all stakeholders,particularly the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and voters to be more committed to a better outing in next election by improving in all areas identified that needed improvement.
Muhammad said TMG had already mobilized it members observing the election across the state who are involved in sensitizing the electorates on important information and voting guides.
“We are out to increase public confidence in the election. We are calling on all citizens to come out en masse to vote.
“Shun all forms of political thuggery and violence, say no to vote trading and intimidation,” Muhammad said.
Highlight of the rally held at the central area of Maiduguri is the sharing of pamphlets on voter education to passers-by.
