The Borno State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has felicitated with Muslims on Eid-el-Fitr Sallah celebration, and prayed for lasting peace in Borno and the nation in general.
In its statement signed by the Chairman, Bulama Talba, and Secretary, Mohammed Ibrahim, the union salutes the courage and resilience of the citizens which its said promotes hope.
“NUJ Borno Council felicitates with the Muslim community and shares in the joy of this holy season for successful completion of Ramadan fast and peaceful celebrations across the state.
“As working journalists, we salute the courage, resilience and never die spirit of citizens in maintaining hope and striving for a brighter future for themselves and our dear Borno community at large.
“NUJ equally appreciate and commend Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum and his entire cabinet for numerous projects completed in the last two years since the inception of his administration and urge the government not to relent in this unprecedented drive to restore the lost glory of the state,” the statement added.
It also commended the patriotic and selfless sacrifice of the country’s armed forces and other security agencies in protecting lives and properties of the citizenry, and wished them more victories in their operations.
It further assured the union’s sustain commitment to hold government accountable to the people as well as protection and promotion of Borno’s image positively against all odds inline its support for the actualization of the state 25- year Development Plan and 10-year Strategic Transformation Plan.
