DG to corps members – Use service year to unlock your hidden potentials

The Director General NYSC Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim has challenged Corps members to take advantage of the numerous opportunities available during the period of national service and expore their innate potentials for the benefit of humanity.

He gave the charge at NYSC Orientation Camp, Paiko, Niger state while addressing 2019 Batch ‘B’ Stream I Corps members on Thursday.

The Director General told the Corps members that each of them has a great deal of ideas that can contribute to nation building, and urged them to use the various platforms provided by NYSC in order to discover and develop such ideas.

“Once you are a graduate, you have all it takes to record unprecedented achievements in any area of your life. I therefore implore you to take advantage of the ample opportunities available to you during your service year and make a mark.

“Do your best to transform lives of people in your communities of service by being diligent at places of primary assignment, and carrying out viable community development service programmes and projects” he further said.

He equally laid emphasis on the Scheme’s Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development training, describing it as the shortest, surest and fastest means of creating wealth among Nigerian graduates.

He said “My dear children, jobs are not readily available out there any longer. So I urge you to key into our SAED programme, it is 21st century’s most reliable means by which you can become self-employed and also job creators in no distant future.”

Shortly after speaking to the Corps members, the Director General also had an interaction with camp officials, where he commended the synergy among them, and appealed for its sustenance throughout the orientation course.

He however warned them against indulging in unholy activities among themselves or with the Corps members, reiterating that they are bound to serve as role models to Corps members in every respect.
