DG to Corps Members: Be focused in pursuing you dreams

The Director General NYSC, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim has urged Corps members to be focused while pursuing their dreams.

He gave the charge as part of his briefing to Corps members during the second lap of his tour of the 2019 Batch ‘B’ (Stream I) orientation course, with a view to obtaining firsthand information about security and welfare of Corps members, as well as assessing the state of facilities in the camps.

Addressing Corps members deployed to Lagos, Ogun, Edo, Rivers, Enugu, Benue and Taraba states at their respective orientation camps, the Director General said that one can achieve anything in this life once he is focused, diligent and disciplined.

He therefore implored the Corps members to start recording milestones in their lives right from the service year, by being wholeheartedly committed to their duties at the camp, places of primary assignment and community develo- pment service.

The NYSC Chief Executive also called on the Corps members to massively and actively take part in the in-camp and post-camp skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development training of the NYSC as an effective antidote to the ever growing rate of youth unemployment.

He equally cautioned the young graduates not to indulge in unpatriotic acts like cybercrime, cultism, drug addiction, religious extremism, but rather act as responsibile citizens, who are being groomed to become good leaders.

“As a loving and caring father, I am calling on you all to be good ambassadors of your homes and make your parents proud. Remember they have expended so much resources in training you, and are hopeful that you will soon assume the responsibility of taking care of them in their old age. Please, do not let them down” he emphasized.

The Director General similarly admonished the Corps members to stick to the tips given to them by security experts.

He also advised the Corps members to adhere strictly to the NYSC Act to avoid being haunted by it in the future, Uurging them to keep their record straight.
