Defection: You’ve no moral justification to punish Joseph Ayuba, Ribadu tells Adamawa lawmakers

~ Urges them to declare Musa Bororo’s seat vacant first

~ Accuses Fintiri of bribing PDP lawmakers with automatic return ticket

The organizing secretary of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State has warned PDP lawmakers against going ahead with their plans to declare the seat of the member representing Michika constituency, Joseph Ayuba vacant adding that APC will reject such impunity with vigor.

He called on the assembly to as a matter of urgent need declare the seat of the member representing Mubi South vacant first because he was the first lawmaker to change political party in the current assembly.

” We have it on good authority that the speaker is going to declare the seat of member representing Michika vacant tomorrow. We are also privy to information that the governor is mounting serious pressure on the speaker to do the hatchet job.

“Because of desperation to retain members of PDP, the governor has promised them all automatic tickets with the exception of Hon Simon Isa, member representing Song constituency who is yet to pick nomination form .

“The speaker is also restless and jittery over the issue of defection because he believes if the trend is left unchecked, he will lose the office of the speaker he so much revered.

“The same lawmakers who looked the other way when Musa Bororo left our party to the PDP are the ones baying for Joseph Ayuba’s head for the same offence since it is against their interest today. Such double standards can only lead to unsavory consequences,” Ribadu said.

The organizing secretary said he learnt on good authority that governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has promised all the PDP lawmakers in the state house of assembly automatic return ticket to the assembly in order to carry out the illegal action.

“Mr. Joseph Ayuba is not the first lawmaker in the state house of assembly to change political party. In the last three years, two state lawmakers namely Musa Bororo of Mubi South and Ibrahim Italiya of Mayo Belwa have changed political parties yet their seats were not declared vacant.

“Musa Bororo was the first person to decamp from APC to PDP and later Italiya decamped from ADC to APC yet their seats were not declared vacant.

“So If Musa Bororo’s seat wasn’t declared vacant, it will be the height of political vandetta for Joseph Ayuba to lose his seat for doing what PDP accepted with fanfare and joy.

“We must warn the Fintiri led government against this glaring travesty as we shall surely resist it with all our might as a political party,” Ribadu said.

There was fever pitch tension in the state House of assembly as the lawmakers who are on recess were recalled back to the house ostensibly to declare the seat of the lawmaker vacant.

Youths in their numbers were seeing protesting against the planned move to declare the seat of Ayuba vacant while the main entrance of the assembly was taken over by stern looking policemen.
